Kake-Jiku

Images of Japan in Applique, Fabric Origami, and Sashiko

Celebrated fiber artist Kumiko Sudo invites you to bring one of Japan's most elegant artistic traditions into your home. Here are fifteen exquisite designs, uniquely styled after traditional Japanese Kake-Jiku--beautiful hanging scrolls that grace the alcoves and entryways of Japanese homes. Created in kimono silks as well as contemporary cottons, each lovely block features needleturn applique. Many showcase Kumiko's sensational three-dimensional flowers or her elegant sashiko stitching. Others introduce simple Japanese knots and cording. Kumiko's delightful watercolor drawings serve as a charming complement to this gorgeous collection.

Kake-Jiku features:

- 15 Japan-inspired display quilts, photographed in perfect detail
- Complete patterns and easy-to-follow color drawings
- How-to techniques, including needleturn appliqué, fabric origami, and sashiko stitching
